Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC), a non-profit, 530-bed tertiary care hospital that includes a Level 1 trauma center, a children’s hospital, and a state-of-the-art laboratory where scientists conduct research on the molecular genetics of cancer.

The MUMC system includes physician networks, business and industry services, and NurseOne, a 24-hour call center. Memorial University Medical Center is one of the largest employers in the region, with approximately 4,000 Team Members.

Memorial University Medical Center has earned prestigious local, regional, and national accolades. MUMC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), with other accolades including a 5-star rating for spine surgery from HealthGrades (who also noted MUMC’s excellence in stroke services), and the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers (a program of the American College of Surgeons).

 

St. Joseph’s/ Candler is a faith-based, not-for-profit health institution offering healthcare services across the entire continuum, including local and regional primary care, specialized inpatient and outpatient services at two anchor hospitals, home healthcare services, as well as a wide variety of community outreach and education efforts. St Joseph’s/ Candler’s Centers of Excellence provide tertiary care services.

 

For non-urgent care services some residents choose the famed Mayo Clinic, which is about a 2-hour drive from Savannah.
