Join Mary Davis Brown of Emme’s Designs, a custom design jewelry & production company specializing in one of a kind natural stone, beaded jewelry, for a special Valentines Workshop. Students learn to work with the essential tools of bead stringing – clasps, crimps, ear wires, headpins and other finishing techniques. In just two hours the instructor will work with you to create a beautiful pair of earrings and a stunning bracelet to wear.

SCAD “High Style” curated by André Leon Talley

“High Style,” the inaugural exhibition in the SCAD Museum of Art’s André Leon Talley Gallery, named for the Vogue contributing editor and SCAD Board of Trustees member, is guest-curated by Talley himself and features iconic pieces by some of today’s most important designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, Tom Ford, Manolo Blahnik, Miuccia Prada, Ruben and Isabel Toledo, Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Vera Wang — all past recipients of SCAD’s André Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award. Among the pieces featured in “High Style” are an Oscar de la Renta Fall 2011 gown worn by Penelope Cruz, and a Zac Posen gown worn by Christina Ricci, both at the 2011 Costume Institute Gala for “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art; a Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel ball gown worn by Patricia Altschul at the 1984 Costume Institute Gala; and a hand-painted evening dress from Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Curator bio: André Leon Talley Gallery is contributing editor for Vogue and a member of the SCAD Board of Trustees.
